P.S. 200 Dessert Social 2015

On Thursday evening, June 11, 2015, an ice cream party was held for the children and residents who participate in a special intergenerational program at Margaret Tietz. This event which is held annually was attended by the students, their families, the school Principal, Teachers, and our residents with some of their family members. The school provided a delicious cake and we supplied all the fixings for great ice-cream sundaes. Some of the students provided insight as to what this program means to them as each received a certificate. The Margaret Tietz Center extends a special thank you to P.S. 200 administration for selecting Margaret Tietz for this on-going program which is so enjoyed by both generations. A special thank you is also extended to the parents for allowing their children to be a part of the Margaret Tietz family. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Hillcrest High School Nursing Assistant Breakfast Appreciation

On June 8, 2015, a continental breakfast was served to show our appreciation for the support the Hillcrest High School Nursing Assistants provided Margaret Tietz during the school year. Each student completed well over 100 hours during their time here and also received a gift from us. Our facility gave them quality hands-on nursing experience with our residents. All the students are graduating this year and plan on attending nursing programs in places such as York College, State University of New York at Brockport, and Hunter College. We wish them all great success!

Retirement of Henry Conston

We are fortunate at Margaret Tietz Center to have a very active Board of Directors. Henry Conston, Esq., one of the founders of Margaret Tietz, began his commitment to the Tietz Center when discussions about opening a nursing facility in Jamaica Hills, Queens was just a dream. His wise counsel and foresight helped in the establishment of the Margaret Tietz Center in 1971. Mr. Conston has contributed his constant care, commitment, and devotion to the Tietz Center for more than four decades. Mr. Conston was presented proclamations by Councilman Rory Lancman and Assemblyman David Weprin and a citation from Congresswoman Grace Meng which was read on her behalf. He was then given a special award from Margaret Tietz which read Henry Conston, Founder • Visionary • Humanitarian, for more than four decades of devoted care to Margaret Tietz Center. Those who attended included Mr. Michael Fassler, President and CEO of CenterLight Healthcare, as well as many Board Members, Senior Executive Staff Members and Margaret Tietz Executive Staff who expressed to Mr. Conston their appreciation for all of his valued time and efforts on behalf of Margaret Tietz and the residents we serve.
